Try putting your curser over 'Informatics' above. The background should change to red during hover. This is the simplest mouseover I can find that stands a reasonable chance of working on most browsers/platforms/HTML versions etc. I will add to the compatibility list below as I get feedback so please tell me about your experience if it is not listed.
The mouseover uses layers to overcome Netscape 4 shortcomings but this should not stop it working with other browsers. Unfortunately I have not found many things than can be so easily implemented with layers. I would rather change text than background colour. Let me know if you find an easy way to do this with Netscape 4.
This page uses HTML 4.01 loose. Earlier tests were satisfactorily conducted with XHTML loose but please note that onMouseOver and onMouseOut are JavaScript and hence the capitals should not be changed.
