Introduction

The Open University 'Phoenix' FirstClass server resides on a computer at 137.108.64.220 called first-class.open.ac.uk. It has several aliases.

FirstClass client

Free clients & documentation can be downloaded from the vendor's web site.

Email

The following format can be used to email a Phoenix user from another OU or internet environment:
peter_pan@first-class.open.ac.uk

Home pages

Some phoenix users have home pages accessed with URLs of the form:
http://phoenixweb.open.ac.uk/~Peter_Pan/ - this was changed from http://phoenix.open.ac.uk/~Peter_Pan/ during July 2007

You can see a small sample of some of the conferences available on the standard phoenix web interface.

Phoenix Lite web interface

Phoenix Lite is a low bandwidth interface which should run faster than the standard service for those who access Phoenix via a modem and telephone line.
